General리그 및 EFL리그 안내

  • ▶ HUFS-YTN Youth English Debating Championship has organized General League and EFL League separately since 2017. In pursuit of globalization, General League develops and grows into a competitive “International League” in the world. EFL League, on the other hand, is an independent league that aims for the spread of debate culture in Korean society for those students who have long been educated in Korea. EFL status would be revised accordingly. Please refer to the following requirements.

General
League
Hitherto - One or more members in a team lived abroad more than two years.
(The period from birth to 5-year-old in western age is excepted.
Trips that took 15 days or less from departure to arrival are also excepted.)
2017
Revision
- One or more members in a team lived abroad more than one year.
(The period from birth to 5-year-old in western age is excepted. Trips that took 15 days or less from departure to arrival are also excepted.)

- One or more members in a team are from special purpose high schools
(e.g. foreign language high school, autonomous private high school, autonomous public high school, science high school etc.)

- One or more members in a team are from overseas high schools
※If your team meets any of these conditions, the team belongs to the General League.
EFL League Hitherto - All members in a team lived abroad less than two years.
(The period from birth to 5-year-old in western age is excepted. Trips that took 15 days or less from departure to arrival are also excepted.)
2017
Revision
- All members in a team lived abroad less than one year.

(The period from birth to 5-year-old in western age is excepted. Trips that took 15 days or less from departure to arrival are also excepted.)
- All members in a team are from regular high schools

※ If your team meets all of these conditions, the team belongs to EFL League.


  • How to apply
  • - Teams that wish to join EFL League must tick the box(EFL League registration) when filling in the application form.

  • Documents to submit by each league
Category Documents to submit
General League - a copy of proof of school enrollment (within 15 days from registration start day)
EFL League (1) a copy of proof of enrollment (within 15 days from registration start day)
(2) a copy of proof of immigration status (within 15 days from registration start day).
Every certificate should be submitted for those with multiple citizenships.
※ Visit Minwon 24 (http://www.minwon.go.kr) online or community service center offline for the documents.
Note that documents should be from birth to present time.



  • Tournament Progress
  • - Preliminary rounds & break rounds are run separately in each league, and the number of breaking teams may change according to the number of participating teams.
