Rounds
Round 1
Impromptu [Education]

This House believes that teacher salaries should be largely determined by student evaluation on teachers.
Round 2 Impromptu [Media]

Info Slide:
A non-profit organization is a group that helps people or supports a good cause instead of trying to make money for itself. They can get money from donations, membership fees, selling products and services, or holding special events. All the money they earn is used to help run the organization, support their programs, and plan for the future.
This is different from a for-profit organization, where the main goal is to make as much money as possible and share it with the owners or people who invested in the company.

This House would force all news organizations (ex. TV, newspaper, radio news) to run as non profit organizations.
Round 3 Impromptu [Religion]

Info Slide:
The 'Test of God' is a narrative used in many religions. According to this, life's hardships (e.g., personal struggles, relationship problems, sickness, economic difficulties, natural disasters) are tests from God to see how strong a person's faith, patience, and character are. Passing these tests is often seen as a way to grow spiritually or receive rewards in this life or the afterlife.

This House opposes the ‘Test of God’ narrative
본선 Round 1 Impromptu [Social Justice]

Info Slide:
A bystander is a person who watches something happen but does not do anything.

This House would punish the bystander of school bullying
Round 2 Impromptu [International Relations]

Info Slide:
Closer economic ties with another country means working together to increase trade, investment, and economic cooperation. This can happen in different ways, such as making deals to lower taxes on imports and exports, making it easier for businesses to work together, encouraging both countries to invest in each other, or teaming up on big projects like building roads, bridges, or developing new technology.

This House, as South Korea, would pursue closer economic ties with China rather than the United States.
Round 3 Impromptu [Social Movements]

Info Slide:
Patriarchy is a social system that gives men significantly more power than women, by shaping laws, rules, culture, and traditions.

This House, as feminism movements, would promote the narrative that 'men are also the victims of patriarchy'.
Round 4 Impromptu [Politics]

Info slide:
For the purposes of this debate, there are two different voting systems for political elections (e.g., President, Congressperson, Governor, etc.).
Under 'Poor Preference Voting', poor citizens with voting rights are given more votes than those who are not poor. While the number of votes that each poor person gets might be different depending on the situation, the total number of votes given to poor voters will always exceed the total number given to non-poor voters. However, under 'Equal Voting', all citizens with voting rights, no matter if they are rich or poor, receive one vote each.

This House prefers 'Poor Preference Voting' to 'Equal Voting'.
